The FCS of Russia is working on developing international customs cooperation in the area of prohibitions and restrictions, including the exchange of electronic information on CITES permits with foreign customs administrations in order to achieve the following goals:

• simplification of foreign trade operations with CITES objects by submitting electronic CITES permits (certificate) to the customs authorities;
• elimination of the subjective factor in the verification of information on CITES permits (certificates) using automatic verification process;
• increasing the level of security of the CITES trade market by eliminating the possibility of submitting invalid (fictitious) CITES permits (certificates) to the customs authorities.
